After all the rain we had on the 4th, the night air was so still and foggy that the should-have-have amazing fireworks in the town of Elma were simply good.
My family got a chuckle out of watching the giant smoke clouds light up, with only a whimper of streamers escaping the clouds. Wimpy might be a decent adjective to describe parts of the display, which went on for 30 minutes and climaxed with a brilliant, explosive cannonade of light and noise. All in all it was well worth the trip to see it, even though the poor guys setting off the fireworks could do nothing but fire them directly into the cloud that hid them from view.
Ironic that after all the beautiful weather we’ve had, the one day where we have had soaking rains this season was on a day off.
